International Standards Note

Many countries in The Americas adopt international standards, particularly from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and, to a lesser extent, the International Building Code (IBC). Countries like Peru, Ecuador, and Costa Rica have officially adopted NFPA standards to establish technical requirements for active protection and life safety. In Paraguay, Decree No. 468/2014 establishes a hierarchy of precedence: Local Standards, then Regional Standards, then International Standards (NFPA).
